Terry-Dawn has focused her career as a trial lawyer on fire litigation. She has handled handling a variety of fire cases for insurers including coverage issues, arson defense, subrogation, and liability defense matters including fire department liability defense cases. She has also provided consulting services to law firms and other organizations on fire litigation. Terry-Dawn is a barrister and solicitor in Canada and an attorney-at-law in the US, with an LL.B degree (equivalent to a JD) from the University of Alberta and an LL.M degree from the University of Denver, where she teaches as an adjunct professor of law. She is a member of the NFPA 921 and NFPA 1033 Committees, and the NFPA Committee on Emergency Service Risk Management. For over 20 years, Terry-Dawn has conducted seminars and written extensively on crucial topics in fire litigation including NFPA 921, NFPA 1033, and expert testimony. She has served the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) as general counsel, parliamentarian, Chair of the Attorneys Advisory Committee, and Chair of the Fire Investigation Standards Committee. Terry-Dawn is also on the Executive Board and several committees of the Technical Working Group for Fire and Explosions (TWGFEX), part of the National Center for Forensic Science.
